General Objectives:
Global Village FoundationÕs goal is to train teachers to teach young children from 1st grade to 5th grade to read in
Vietnamese and English using a method developed by Ms. Somboon Singkamanan. Participants will include trainers,
trainees, and administrators from various countries. Trainers will include:
á Ms. Le Ly Hayslip, the Founder of Global Village Foundation (GVF),
á Prof. Somboon Singkamanan, the Founder of ÒPortable Library SystemÓ (PLS) in Thailand,
á Ms. Wachiramat Oil in Thai Land - BA in Children Literature.
á Da Nang City Department of Education and Training,
á Ms.Nguyen Thi Gioi- BA in Literature and Teacher Training College.
á Ann Pham - Vietnamese American Teacher at Cleverlearn Language School in HCMC.
á Ms. Wakako Fujita from Japan- BA at Foreign Language University in Osaka, Japan.
Specific Objectives:
á How to encourage the children get interested in reading books in Vietnamese and English.
á How to preserve, to manage the book and develop more reading during project process.
á Methods to evaluate PLP after this model is carried out in Hoa Vang and Cam Le.
á To collect information regarding kinds of mobile portable as well as real demand of books among primary- junior and high school for developing PLP in Da Nang City in the future.
