Movie Screening of “Heaven and Earth”, and Author Panel with notable writers (starting early AM in OC)
An engaging panel discussion will feature prominent writers discussing the post-war life of Vietnamese in the diaspora and the future of Vietnam as a nation. They will delve into the experiences, challenges, and achievements of the Vietnamese community living abroad, while also exploring the prospects and aspirations for Vietnam’s development and growth as a nation. In the early afternoon, a film screening will be shown.

Global Peace & Legacy Awards Gala Dinner (PM in SM)
The gala serves as a platform to recognize and celebrate outstanding individuals who have made a positive impact in the communities supported by GVF. During the event, three honorees will be acknowledged for their significant contributions to disadvantaged and vulnerable children and families, as well as their efforts in promoting Vietnam’s culture and uplifting the country. Their remarkable impact and unwavering dedication will be showcased, inspiring others to make a difference in their own communities.

50th Anniversary of the US Troop Withdrawal from VN
Le Ly will join a panel discussion to commemorate this significant year to a large group of teachers in Southern California. Le Ly’s insights and experiences will provide invaluable perspectives for the attendees. She will sign copies of both When Heaven and Earth Changed Places and Child of War and Woman of Peace.

Village of Hope 30th Anniversary Celebration
30 years ago, Le Ly and her organization converted an abandoned high school building in Danang, Vietnam into the Village of Hope Orphanage, where thousands of orphans have been housed and educated. Many of the prior graduates will return “home” to celebrate in this wonderful event.

Remembering the Vietnam Wars, Lecture Series
Le Ly participated in a lecture program hosted at the University of San Diego where San Diego Veterans for Peace was present to join in the conversation. With the group’s participation, the event became a unique platform for dialogue, where the perspectives of both war survivors and veterans intersected.

Dust Child Book Event
Le Ly joins Nguyen Phan Que Mai, author of Dust Child, on a panel along with several Amerasians, to share their personal experiences during the war and the transformative journey that followed. The event symbolized a powerful step towards healing, unity, and empowerment, reminding everyone of the enduring strength of the human spirit.
